Tiehua Music Village
Romantic evenings can be enjoyed at nearby Tiehua Music Village. The singers give natural and moving performances and there is also an art market to browse; enjoy life at a leisurely pace here while listening to the most beautiful voices in Taiwan.

Night local 文青marketIt worths a visit since many little shops and cultural shops clustered there. At night, the lanterns designed by students were lit up, which made a romantic scenery.
Crafts and buskersPleasant place for a family stroll during the early evening. Look out for Impromptu performance. I believe weekend evenings are more interesting with special exhibitions and events (we were there on a Saturday night - so there were stalls set up to sell handmade craft and local delicacies). There are containers turned into cafes and shops selling souvenir and crafts and cafes.

Night life in Taitung CityThe night market was not open on Wednesday, so we walked around instead. There are a lot of Hot ballon shape lanterns on both side of the street. Frankly speaking, not too many choices to go or eat in Taichung City.
Good experience suitable for youngstersI actually had high expectation for this place, and was slightly disappointed as it was not as big and happening as I have expected. Nevertheless it was still a unique experience, especially when my parents who went with me got to see and experience this kind of art village which they seldom have the chance to visit. There was live music, but not much food. Stalls are a bit scattered and mostly are selling crafts or clothes, and not cheap too. Nothing too special for us who have visited many other art village like this, but still a good experience, and definitely worth visiting to experience the artsy life of people from another country, as well as an encouragement to the young entrepreneurs there.
A unique experience with aboriginal live music and colorful lanterns!I saw some bloggers wrote stories about this place, so I planned a railway trip from Taipei to the southern part of Taiwan. Very nice weather here at this town, even in February. Spent a few hours here in this art village near the Taitung old railway station, saw many visitors and quite some crafts mini shops along the streets and a few live music performances here and there. Had some photos of the colorful & luminous abstract-painted-paper-made mini lanterns hung amongst the trees, it's quite an interesting & fun visual experience to walk around those hundreds of lanterns. If you'd like to arrange an around the island train trip, this is the place worth paying a visit, it's quite relax and fun!
