Yuchang Highway is part of Provincial Highway 30, running from Antong in Yuli Township, Hualien County, to Ningpu in Changbin Township, Taitung County. The construction of Yuchang Highway initially began in the late Qing Dynasty, following the path of the old Antong Traversing Trail. Further development took place during the Japanese colonial era and continued into the post-war period, finally completing and opening to traffic in 2007. Stretching 16.22 kilometers, it is the only road that tunnels through the Coastal Mountain Range. 

The route offers stunning scenery and expansive views, allowing travelers to admire both the valley landscapes of the Coastal Mountain Range and the vast Pacific Ocean beyond. It is highly popular among cyclists and enthusiasts of scenic drives alike.
