Shiyusan(Stone Umbrella) Recreation Area contains a number of lookouts and wooden trails for visitors to admire the wondrous view: sky-cean sharing the same color shade. The narrow and elongated cape seen on the water surface has an on-and-off disconnected look stretching about 1 km in length,a result of seawater erosion. A closer look of the area reveals numerous potholes, sea caves and marine arches. The Shiyusan (stone umbrella) refers to the umbrella-shaped stacks, mostly knocked down by typhoons and now only one remains.

A strange placeThis rather strange piece of rock was named The Rock Umbrella, but really it looks more like a mushroom. Great place to stop by when driving along route 30 from taitung to yuli. There was also an unusual piece of sculpture by a Japanese artist. All in all a cool place to visit
From a distantWe saw this from a distant. Too far to appreciate it. Too far to see clearly to provide comments. Heard from driver that there are many such rock formation ( top heavy, body thin) along the coast but this is the biggest.
