The unique geological landscape of Xiaoyeliu is a result of inverted sandstone and mudstone layers. After a geological structure change, the gigantic sandstone shale became upside down and covered with coral reef. After years of sea erosion,a unique geological form was developed. Amazing rocky formations are found on the trail, such as shapes of a mushroom, tofu, and coral reef. The geological exhibition hall at the Tourist Service Center provides further information of geological formations and land features unique to the area. The broad grass land of the Jialulan Recreation Area at the north is decorated with art fixtures of primitive-looking driftwood. The area is ideal to gaze into the night sky and listen to nature's concerto of tides.

A little gemXiaoyeliu (Current official Pinyin translation) is a small coastal park that highlights the beautiful rock formations caused by marine erosion. Past the swaying banyan and coconut trees, you'd be surprised to find these oddly shaped rocks along the shore. Some of the more striking ones are given names and with some imagination you may be able to identify them. It doesn't take long to walk through and take photos. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Taitung.

Interesting. Good stop if you are traveling around the coastThere were some interesting rock formations. However the site is quiet small and there wasn't much. maybe spend 30mins as a rest stop.
Impressive rocksXiaoyeliu was a coastal area with several unusual rock formations. Stopping by the small but informative visitor center is a good introduction on how the different rock types form. Once you get to the coast, the rocks get pretty sharp and some are slippery so it’s probably not the best place to visit on a rainy day. There are several photogenic spots and it’s probably lot less crowded than the regular Yeliu sight in Northern Taiwan.
Fascinating rock formationsCame here by bicycle, about 12km from Taitung TRA station, instead of taking the bus. Beautiful ocean view on a clear day, fascinating rock formations and just a few people taking a tour (compared to Yehliu).

It's a miniture version of Yeliu in Keelung!Great geological forms to walk around and appreciate the beautiful coast of Taitung! Yeliu in Keelung on the northeastern part of Taiwan is very similar but grander! Yet you can only see the endless coastline when you're at the east coast!
