Fushan Fish Recovery Area
Sunday: 08:00 - 17:00
There is a beautiful marine eco-area in the Shanyuan maritime space near Fushan Village in Beinan Township. However, the area had suffered serious damage from illegal fishing, before the Eastern Marine Biology Research Center proclaimed Fushan as a fishing resource reserve. After 2 years of restoration effort, much of the area's ecology has been successfully recovered. With corals, protected seashells, and endemic fish species reappearing, the area is now a great place for an outdoor natural classroom, featuring both guided information and recreation purposes.
Feeding fishes in higher tideSecond time here. This time the tide is higher. Fun as the first time with the exception that this time, by just walking on the walkway built by the locals, the water is already up to our knees. Treading in the water is a little hard in slippers due to the waves but still manageable. Fun playing with water and feeding the fishes with specially made mantou . This time round saw bigger fishes due to the higher tide. The fishes literally rushed at you. Recommended!
Wonderful time feeding the fishesRecommended if you have young children or even adults who just want some time to be close to nature. According to my guide, the best time to come will be late afternoon where the tide is higher. This is the time when the shore has bigger fishes swimming in. The locals made huge conservation efforts by building pathways made of stones. The unique pathways with holes in it allowed the fishes to swim in and out of the shore easily. We bought seaweed mantou to feed the fishes that swam in. We walked into the water to be closer to the fishes. It was a totally unexpected experience! Fishes of considerable size will flood towards you when they found food. It was terrifying at some stage when you see fishes all swamped towards you for the bread that we are holding. But it was really safe. A wonderful experience! Would recommend!
Good place for viewing marine life. This place is an ecco protected area. Good to spent half an hour observing marine life. Beware the pathment is narrow and may be slippery.
