National Taitung Living Art Center is located across the street from Taitung County Government. The current site was once the Martial Arts Hall (Budokuden) of Taitung Prefecture during the Japanese colonial period. In 1980, it was rebuilt into a modern building. Currently, it serves as a cultural spot that promotes aesthetics education and cultivates an artistic environment in Taitung. Strolling through the well-lit venue, you will find individual works by local artists as well as themed group exhibitions. From paintings to sculpture, from multimedia to mixed media creations, visitors can appreciate from the artists perspective the passion for their work. Sometimes, craftsmen will hold workshops in the exhibition area, engaging visitors in activities such as glass bead making, rush weaving, and indigo dyeing so they can apply their creativity and let art illuminate their lives.
