A Local FavouriteThe shop appears to have a long history of serving thick rice noodles, going by the number of photographs with famous personalities and awards that it had won. Thick rice noodles are indeed a known specialty dish in Taitung, and so good to visit this restaurant with a history of serving up good food in this beautiful city. Do try the thick rice noodles (mee tai muk) along with the young bamboo shoots. The noodles have a nice texture and it goes well with the bamboo shoots as a side dish. We liked the ambience of the restaurant as well given that there were more than enough seats and the staff were generally pleasant.

Loved the specialty of the houseThese noodles were so tasty, finished my bowl before i even knew it. And the food comes very cheap as well. Efficient service. Would definitely recommended trying the thick rice noodles.
Good, easy and cheap. Definitely worth a return visit!Lao dong tai has recently moved to a new location on Datong Road (two blocks over from their old location on Zhengqi Road). The menu is easy to navigate - you check what you want on a menu and hand it to the cashier, and they do have menus with pictures if you ask. The rice noodles are good, freshly made and served in a light stock, topped with smoky bonito flakes. They also have a wheat noodles with pork, but the menu doesn't stray too far beyond a few specialties that they do very well. The side dishes are especially nice - all simple but fresh and well prepared.
there's a lot of better choice for Thick Rice NoodlesThick Rice Noodles are very common in Taitung. Lao Dong Tai is not recommended. Vistors could ask local people for better choices

Awesome rice noodles! The hostel owner introduced this restaurant because of the history and delicious food. The noodles were made from rice. The texture and taste were extraordinary. You can experience the freshness of the soup and the CP ratio was very high. Each noodle costs TWD 40, which was so inexpensive. This was a stunning restaurant in Taitung, so you should try it.
