Being the heart of Taitung county, Taitung city is neighbored with the Central Range in the west and the Pacific Ocean in the east. Its area is about 109.7691 sq. km with a population of about 110,941.

The residents include Fujian people, Hakka people, immigrates of the Han people and aboriginals, namely the Ami tribe, the Bunun tribe, the Rukai tribe, the Paiwan tribe, the Yami tribe, etc. Its public natural underground water swimming pool is exclusive in Taiwan.

In the northern-east part with coastline reaches 22 km long. Its area is about 210.19 sq. km with a population of about 11,000.

Located in the most southern part of Taitung county, Taimali faces the Pacific Ocean at its east. The total area of Taimali is 96.6522 sq. km and it has a population of about 14,000.

Wild lily, day lily and camomile can be seen during different flower blossoming season.

Tawu is located in the southern part of Taitung and neighbored with the Pacific Ocean at its east with the Central Range behind. The total area of Tawu is 69.1454 sq. km and it has a population of about 6,600.
