You may reach Shiyusan after driving 10km north from Sanxiantai. Shiyusan is a raised limestone landform with abrasion features: long and narrow promontory, reefs and other abrasion landforms. It continues to extend obliquely in a northeast direction about 1km into the sea, which forms a unique and magnificent landscape. Several umbrella shape abrasion stacks used to be located on the Shiyusan promontory, nonetheless, only one abrasion stack managed to survive typhoon destruction. Because of its umbrella-like appearance, the stack was given the name Shiyusan (Rock Umbrella).
A wooden hiking trail next to the Shiyusan scenic pavilion offers direct access to Shiyusan. The dark sand spreads all over the small dock’s sandy shoal. Kids just love to see groups of hermit crabs running around the nearby stream, and respond with endless laughter and screams of amazement.
