Taiwan’s postal service is very efficient and its post offices provide a full range of services, including delivery of ordinary mail, express mail, registered mail, parcels, a courier service, Speedpost and also rent out mailboxes.
Opening times are usually 8:00-17:00, Monday-Friday; some post offices open on Saturdays and holidays. Stamps can be bought at hotels, post offices and some convenience stores and letters then deposited in a hotel mail box or roadside mail box. Red mailboxes are for air mail (the opening to the left) and express mail (the opening to the right); the green mailboxes are for ordinary mail, the right opening for city mail and the left one for outside the city.
Mail destined for an address in Taiwan will usually be delivered within 24 to 48 hours. An ordinary letter sent from Taiwan to the US takes about a week and one to China takes around one month. If a pick-up courier service is required, contact the UPS or DHL service station. Large convenience store chains such as 7-Eleven and OK, also offer international courier services.
